DMS students prepare to leave Thursday after learning about Friday’s school closure.

Because of numerous absences caused by the flu, Duncan Middle School canceled school for Friday.

Teachers and staff will still report at the same time, but students will not be required to attend. However, students involved in athletics will be expected to attend their sports.

Principal Wade Hampton made the announcement at 3 p.m. today. In his announcement, he told teachers to wipe down desks and to santizer their classrooms.

About 150 students were absent today, which is an increase in the absences from other days this week.
