President Donald J. Trump won Stephens County and Oklahoma, claiming the Oklahoma Electoral College votes.
As of now, former Vice President Joe Biden is leading the Electoral College votes with some recounting taking place. With mail-in ballots being counting in many states, it may still be some time before a president is officially chosen.
In Stephens County, the majority of registered voters voted for Trump with a total of 15,552 people casting their ballots in favor of the president. Biden received the second most votes with 3,151 people voting for the former Vice President.
Other president hopefuls who received votes included Jo Jorgensen with 224 votes, Kanye West with 58 votes, Brock Pierce with 34 votes and Jade Simmons with 27 votes.
Oklahoma and Stephens County have typically had a strong showing in support of the Republican Party. In 2016, Oklahoma also selected Trump as the standout winner for the state’s Electoral College votes. Trump received 65 percent of the votes, according to the Oklahoma Election Board website.
Tuesday’s election was a similar situation.
According to the Oklahoma Election Board website, Trump received 65 percent of the total votes cast by Oklahoma registered voters and receiving the most votes in all 77 counties.
Although Biden is leading nationwide at the moment, things can change.
In 2016, Hilary Clinton won the popular vote, but lost the Electoral College vote, which determined Trump to be the winner of the election. This time around, Biden is leading in the Electoral College votes, but things could change.
The winner will be determined by whoever receives at least 270 Electoral College votes.
