Duncan Middle School’s baseball team is preparing for the beginning of the season. Their first game is on March 2, 2023. They have been practicing for almost a week. When interviewed, Joel Spaulding said that he thinks the roster is better than last year but he is not very confident about the season. On the other hand, Blayden Harper said he was confident about this season and he too thinks the roster is better than last year’s. The team did not finish like they wanted but looked to redeem themselves this year. They want to try and get out of the high school’s shadow.
The high school is currently the 5A state champion. The middle school baseball team has a new coach and maybe they play differently. I look to win and expect nothing less. And with the addition of seventh graders to replace the freshman that left. The team is looking a lot better than they did two weeks ago as they are working harder than ever.
Some players on the team are Devan Johnson, Blaze Black, Cord Byerly, and Sam Lipscomb. Their first scrimmage is on Monday, February 27, 2023. They are playing Sulphur. They predict a win but won’t underestimate their opponent. So once again as the team prepares for the season.
They are getting into the mindset of professionals and working hard. They sometimes have to practice inside due to the weather but that is not stopping them from reaching their goals this year. For the eighth graders, this will be their last season in middle school baseball before going into high school. Most want this to be their best year to give them a good reputation going into high school. Their main goal is to do what’s best for the team and they will do whatever it takes to win.
