Baseball is a spring sport at Duncan Middle School that students can participate in. For many students, this will be the first year of baseball, and for others, it will not.
Talon Lewis is an 8th-grade baseball player. Lewis plays third base and has been playing baseball for 9 years.
He states, “ I have improved my batting average very well by working in the cages and practicing like it’s a game.” He continued on to say, “ I start by getting locked in before the game and then get on the field and get focused.” He also said, ” Keeping the team locked in during the game is so important as a teammate.”
Caleb Davis is another 8th-grade baseball player. Davis has been playing baseball for 9 years and he plays shortstop.
He says “ Adversity is a main focus with teamwork and communication on the field and it’s good to stay commutative with your teammates with a challenging game.”He continued on to say, “ I think our team is going to do really well this season because we have a lot of good players and we stay focused most of the time.”
Blaze Black is also another 8th-grade baseball player. Black has been playing baseball for 10 years and he plays center field, first base, and pitcher.
He states “ We are doing well in our games but we need to be more serious and not mess around” He goes to say, “ When I’m playing I don’t worry about anything during the game just whatever the outcome is.” He also says, “ Something I’m mostly looking forward to this season is coming together as a team and fixing attitude and effort.” he goes on to say ” Ways I have improved over the years is practicing alone with my grandpa and taking lessons to improve my batting, throwing, and pitching.”
