As eighth-hour journalism students learned about fact and opinion, a reporter for The Duncan Banner stopped by to write about the students and their online publication.
Linda Provost, a reporter for The Banner, interviewed students and took photos of the eighth-grade class, which writes news stories for Demon Direct. Along the way, Provost was able to share her insights with the students.
Provost has college degrees in mass communications and religion, and a minor in German. Although she previously worked at The Lawton Constitution, she was recruited by The Duncan Banner.
She said she likes her job because she gets to meet cool people and write cool stories. She wants kids to learn the trade.
Her advice to the students was, “If you don’t love journalism, it’s not the field for you.”
The story about Demon Direct is set to come out in Sunday’s edition of The Duncan Banner.
