Thursday, August 15, school resumed at DMS. New students and staff have come. The new staff include the principal, vice principal, officer and a few teachers. As well, the W.I.N class is disassembled, extending class hours. Food has become free and the Ali-Cart is no more. This adds more change to the school year.
J’hari Dorn, a 6th grader, is excited for the school year because she can learn new things. Dorn said Choir is the class she is most excited for, because she said she could “show off my voice”. Gabriel Hernandez is also a 6th grader. Hernandez is excited because he can make new friends. His favorite class is Ms. Blackburn’s because he can show how smart he is.
Khole Love, a 7th grader, looks forward to food, because she “likes food”. Love is excited to be in golf, she said its fun and she barely gets to do it. Not having W.I.N feels kinda weird to love, however she sees it “kinda fun” as she no longer has to wait 30 minutes in a room. Emerald Cole, 7th grader, is excited for the food “Free Food.” Cole is most excited for Mrs. Ford’s class because “We get to eat during class”
Paislee Roberson, an 8th grader, is “kind of” excited for the new year. Roberson isn’t very happy with her classes as she doesn’t have a lot of classes with her friends. FS/OB and ME/GA are both the classes Roberson is excited for because she has friends in both those classes. Roberson feels that W.I.N being gone is kinda “Mid” because “I liked having a break from class.
The students share a common interest on how they feel about school starting, excited. Along with being excited the opinion on W.I.N is neutral. The new free food, has also attracted the attention of people making them appreciate the school.
