At Duncan Middle School, there is a club called National Junior Honor Society. In NJHS the students do multiple different drives such as food drives, coat drives, toy drives, etc. NJHS students also help with other things like meet the teacher, parent teacher conferences, and helping with the concession stand at school dances.
NJHS is a great organization. It is a way to learn how to take care of others, even if it is somebody you don’t know.
Meetings are usually once a month on Tuesdays in the library before school at 7:30. Derrick Miller is in charge of NJHS.
There are about 180 students in NJHS. So far 10 students are running for spots for next year’s NJHS officers. Carleigh Nalley and Parker Sanders are running for president. Kayan Patel and Brooklyn Richards are running for Vice President. Emry Vonfeldt is running for Secretary. Audrey Capogna and Canon Achley are running for Treasurer. Layla Michell and Sophia Turner are running for Reporter/Historian. Huck Peterson is running for Parliamentarian.
The current leaders of NJHS are the president, Peyton Williams, Vice President, Samantha Verde-Vivas, Treasurer, Thor Beck, Secretary, Kaylee Thomas, Parliamentarian, Averi Peterson, and Kaydence Cobble, Reporter.
My favorite part about NJHS is getting to be able to help others. NJHS is a fun, helpful, amazing club and it is an honor to be in it.
