Duncan Middle School has seen a few new faces around its hallways this year with the addition of several new teachers.
These teachers replace those who left DMS at the end of the last school year. Several moved to other school districts, while some left education altogether.
Among this year’s new teachers are Reavis Hammond, Nikki Reid, Darren Ross and Issac Mason. Others include Spencer Cagg and Alexandra Robinson.
Reavis Hammond
Hammond is a new seventh-grade math teacher at DMS.
He said he likes to help people who are having problems. Since he is new, he has found encouragement from other teachers, who have given him guidance in teaching.
If he weren’t a math teacher, he would likely teach social studies. He said his favorite parts of being at Duncan Middle School is teaching math and interacting with students.
In addition to being a teacher, he is also active in Duncan Little Theatre, where acts. He is a Duncan High School graduate.
Nikki Reid
Reid is the new art teacher at DMS this year.
Like Hammond, Reid attended Duncan Middle School when she was younger. She has enjoyed watching the school change over time.
Reid loves the creativity of art and plans to teach art as long as she can. She said she likes the students and seeing how creative they can be.
Isaac Mason
Mason is a new behavioral counselor for the school and one of the football coaches.
He said he loves to help others and teach them life lessons. He said he wants to help them move forward.
“Keep advancing in knowledge and be the best you can be,” Mason said.
He said he likes Duncan and wants to be a pillar of the community.
“I love the school and the people in it,” he said.
Darren Ross
Ross is a sixth-grade science teacher this year.
He moved to Duncan because he had a great interview and has a lot of family that lives in the area. He said he is excited about the school year.
“The most thing I am excited about the challenges and growing with my students,” Ross said.
