Laptops have been seen more often without a disk drive for the past few years. This is because companies want bigger batteries and less weight, but why stop selling ones with disk drives too? Though it’s hard to find laptops with disk drives, it isn’t impossible. There are a lot of uses for a disk drive, as follows: you can watch movies on disk to your laptop, download things from a disk, put them on your laptop, and download it from the disk to the laptop, etc. There are a lot more uses for the disk drive, some are even able to inscribe disks, but with all these uses comes a cost. They are useful, but they take up a lot of room, explaining why if companies wanted bigger batteries they had to remove them.
They should’ve kept selling laptops with the disk drive because of how many uses they had, but they wouldn’t have as long of a battery life. I think they still should sell ones without a disk drive too. If ones with disk drives were easier to find and obtain it would make it easier for people. Not only do we have to factor in the point of view of consumers, but companies too. Because of all the extra hardware that comes with a disk drive, it’d take a lot of money to mass produce laptops with and without disk drives, so companies would need a boost in money to sustain a profitable business, thus bumping up prices of other products. This might make people uninterested because of pricing of other products. This might even bankrupt the company.
So all in all it’s understandable why they don’t sell laptops with disk drives anymore and though things would be easier with a disk drive, the company would be at risk. So we have to live with the fact that we may not be able to do those things, or can we? Sure you can’t get computers with a disk drive built in, but we can get an external disk drive. The external disk drive is external meaning it’s on the outside instead of inside. With this, you can easily do all the things a laptop with a disk drive can do. The only thing you have to do is plug it into your USB port and it will be ready to go.
