Students at Duncan Middle School have been enjoying one of Duncan’s newest restaurants, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
Popeyes opened its Duncan location on Aug. 14, replacing previous tenant, Billy Sims Barbecue, and many DMS students and staff have taken advantage of the restaurant’s menu. Several DMS students shared their perspectives of the chicken restaurant’s cuisine.
According to the Popeyes website, the restaurant was founded 47 years ago. What was once a small restaurant and a big idea became a worldwide craze that swept the nation. Popeyes was first called Chicken on the Run but was renamed several months later to Popeyes.
DMS student Jaylee Hornbeak talked about how much she likes Popeyes.
“Yes, because it tastes good,” Hornbeak said.
She was not the only one who felt this way. Other DMS students, including Rizden Ray, Bricelyn Brown, JD Gdanski, Maylee Valentine and Mason Sanders all shared their opinions about the restaurant.
Ray said he liked Popeyes.
“Popeyes is bussing,” he said.
Horbeak and Ray said they thought a lot of people like the restaurant.
For Brown, her opinion of Popeyes wasn’t as strong as the others.
“It’s fine, but is not my favorite,¨ she said.
Gdanski has strong thoughts on the restaurant.
“It’s the best place ever,” he said.
Gdanski said he loves the chicken because it is good, and he thinks Popeyes will stay in business because everybody likes chicken.
Valentine said she also thinks Popeyes has a good chance of staying in business.
“It is good,” she said.
She thinks, since the chicken is so good, the restaurant has a better chance of staying open.
Sanders also talked about what he thought about Popeyes.
” Its a good restaurant because it’s Cajun,” he said.
Although he likes the food, and he thinks Popeyes will stay in business in Duncan for a long time because of how popular it has already been.
“It is only popular because of the hype,” Sanders said.
