Game day, one of the most important events for cheer, took place on November 2nd from 1:50 PM to 1:52 PM in Washington Oklahoma. Cheer competed against multiple teams from other schools trying at the competition.
Collins Budowsky, a cheerleader, says the most important cheer event of the season took place in Altus and could’ve gotten first but she’d made a mistake and likes cheer because she likes to do flips. Budowsky played for seven years before this year’s competition and she was in fifth place, she doesn’t find cheer hard because the only hard part is that they have to condition a lot and have the strength to do it She says “If you believe you’ll win you will.”
She loves cheer because she gets to tumble and thinks they’ll have a good season and they’ve had a good season so far and have improved. She says the team was good and did good with teamwork. She says she thinks Delany is the best cheerleader because she is a good flier and tumbler. She was hopeful the team would win because they had motivation from their coaches and said the coaches were happy with their performance and they improved since last year. She finds the game day routines the hardest for her because of the three different sections.
Emma Lopez, another cheer competitor from the DMS cheer team, says she will get first in one of these competitions eventually. Lopez has been in cheer for six years prior to the competition and finds cheer easy and enjoyable. She says it’s easier if you’ve done it for a long time. She says she doesn’t have a favorite routine but the team’s favorite routine is YMCA. Like Budowsky, she says she also got fifth place in the competition. She says “Never give up”
