A major wrestling tournament has occurred recently. Wrestling has been attending several duels, preparing them for this major tournament, and now they’ve put it into use.
The tournament took place at Shawnee and lasted two to three days. The coaches are Spencer Kagg, Kevin Wattonberg, and Jack Berry.
Hayden Vandagriff, an eighth-grade wrestling boy, said he has a good team. Vandagriff said the season is going well for them and says he’s doing well so far because he wrestles well.
He said his team is doing well because they have been winning in the duels. He said Hunter Philips, another eighth-grade boy wrestler, is the best because he is good at wrestling and has experience. Vandagriff has wrestled for four years before this.
“Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy,” Vandagriff said.
Noah Bolig, eighth-grade boys wrestler, has been wrestling for nine years because he likes to hold people down. Bolig feels excited about the season and thinks it will go well because they have only two losses, and says his score was seven wins to one loss.
He is motivated by his coaches and teammates. For new people, he says to be fast and aggressive and thinks he will do well this year but his team won’t. He thinks Phillips is the best wrestler for the team because “he’s cracked J.V.”, and “Just do it.”
Brodie Harmon, eighth-grade boys wrestler, like Vandagriff, said he has a good team and he’s doing well himself. Harmon said Vandargriff is the best wrestler because of his technique and strength, and like him, he says the season is going well so far.
He, like Bolig, has been in wrestling for nine years and he is still in wrestling because it makes him happy.
“The bigger they are the harder they fall,” Harmon said
