The DMS Academic Team had a successful year, leading to a bid at state.
Although the team chose not to go to the state competition, both the Red and Black team members both qualified for state level, after finding success in their state-qualifiers.

Team Black first found success at the Marlow qualifier, and Team Red qualified mere weeks later, doing so at the end of January.
Karter Hammack, who is a member of the Red Team, he was happy with how well the DMS Academic Team members did throughout the year.
The Academic Team was made up of sixth and seventh-grade students. However, only seventh-grade members were able to compete in the different meets.
Hammack said Red Team place first during its state qualifier. He said the team worked hard and met its goal, which led them to winning.
He also said that the questions that they got asked were about the same, and they aren’t that hard but if they were hard, they would try to help each other out and work together as a team to do their best. He said that they definitely improved this time from the last time, and he was proud of himself.
He said he thinks he did pretty well.
Although both teams did qualify for state, they chose not to go, citing the distance, the early morning and the fact they would be facing teams they were defeated by last year. There would also be members not able to go.
Team Black members include JD Gdanski, Huck Petersen, Kayan Patel, Cannon Atchley, Parker Sanders, and Mason Sanders. Team Red members include Hammack, Harper Ford, Jaylee Hornbeak, John-Thomas Saenz and Kadin Shawn.
The advisers for the DMS Academic Team are Sally Wheeler and Chuck Wagner.
