Basketball for the DMS eighth-grade season isn’t going well; seventh-grade basketball is going just as well.
Jorell Que, an eighth-grade basketball player, said he feels like the team should have won most of the games it have played. Que said when they play Lawton MacArthur they might lose because the Lawton Mac players are bigger than the Duncan players.
The eighth-grade team isn’t alone in this struggle.
Layton Toomey, a seventh-grade basketball player, said the season has been good, but they’ve had some losses. Toomey said the team could do better overall.
Toomey thinks his team can improve with what times remains in this season and that they think they can beat MacArthur if they play to their best ability.
D’Montre Petties, a seventh-grade basketball player, had some similar thoughts.
Petties said he performs amazing, but his team also does a great job.
However, he said that the team’s players aren’t the only ones who should get the credit for the team’s successes. Petties said Jordon Dotson, who is the coach for seventh-grade basketball, is an amazing coach, and the team could not do it without Dotson as the coach.
He said one thing that his team could work on is the trick plays, and he said the best thing about the team is they are good at working as a team and staying calm in tough situations.
Still eighth-grade can’t be counted out either.
Jasper Link, an eighth-grade player, said, “Team performance is decent during games.”
Link said he feels like his team works harder in practice rather than in games, which is one place the team could improve.
Link said that he thinks that his performance is pretty good and that his team is decent. He said that his team is probably not going to win against Lawton MacArthur because all of Lawton mac players are tall, good at shooting and good at the game in general.
