It could be described as the “clash of titans,” but this year’s Super Bowl brought together the NFL’s top teams to compete against one another.
The Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs with the Eagles taking home the Lombardi Trophy.
Joshua Franklin, an eighth-grader, said the Eagles are his team.
“Rain, sleet or snow, the Eagles are trained to go,” Franklin said.
The final score of the game was 40 to 22. The Eagles prevented the Chiefs from scoring in the first half of the game. The Eagles represented the National Football Conference, while the Chiefs represented the American Football Conference.
With top players, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs were expected to hold their own in the Super Bowl. The Kansas City team previously won the Super Bowl in 2024.
However, the Eagles had power players of their own, lead by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who previously played for the University of Oklahoma.
Franklin said he was glad his team won and attributed much of that success to Hurts.
“I’m happy my team won,” he said.
Ivan Garcia, another eighth-grader, wasn’t thrilled with the way the Super Bowl turned out, especially since he thought the Chief were going to run away with it.
“The Chiefs had a great season,” Garcia said. “I’m sad they lost.”
Peng Zhang, another eighth-grader, said he was excited about the ending scores of the Super Bowl.
“I felt very happy because I got to see the Chiefs lose against the Eagles,” Zhang said.
He said Hurts was the player that led the team to victory.
“He set the team us for success,” he said.
Although he may not be the biggest Eagles fan, he was still glad they pulled out the victory.
“I did not want to see the Chiefs win” Zhang said.
