“The Three Little Pigs” is an awesome story, and it’s easy to see why.
Written by Joseph Jacobs, who was a well-known folklorist and wrote other, famous stories including “The Three Bears” and “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “The Three Pigs” follow three pigs, who are kicked out of their childhood home by Momma Pig. Momma Pig wants them all to learn to live on their own.
Each of the pigs builds his own house: One of straw, one of sticks and one of bricks.
As they build their houses, one by one, each of the pigs is stalked about the Big, Bad Wolf, who is super scary.
The wolf easily blows down the first pig’s house because it’s made of straw. The wolf then eats the first pig. When he’s done, he moves onto the second pigs house.
The second pig, who made his house of sticks, also has his house blown down. And like the first pig, he eats him.
The third pig is also the smartest pig, especially since he made his house of bricks. This super strong material cannot be blown down by the super scary Big, Bad Wolf.
The wolf tries to blow it down, and he gets angry. He tries to trick the pig, but the pig is too smart. Finally, the wolf climbs down the chimney, but the pig puts a boiling pot of water in the fireplace. The wolf dies, and the pig eats him.
The moral of the story is do not build your house of straw or bricks because the super scary Big, Bad Wolf might just blow it down and eat your pigs. You should build it out of bricks and put a pot of boiling water in your fireplace.
If the super scary Big, Bad Wolf tries to come down the chimney, you can eat him.
