A digital citizenship meeting will take place starting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the DMS Commons.
The meeting, which will be led by Det. John Byers of the Duncan Police Department, will focus on different topics in regards to online safety. Some of the main topics to be discussed at the meeting include: your Digital Footprint, Digital Cookies and different ways to protect yourself while online.
A person’s digital footprint is the trail of data they create while using the internet. This would include all of the websites a person visit, emails he or she sends, and the information he or she submits to online services. A digital cookie is a small text file, created by a website, that is stored in the user’s computer, whether it be temporarily for that session only or permanently.
Laura Stroud, member of the community said, “I think that it’s good for schools to be teaching, and educating people on online safety.“
This meeting is intended for students, parents, and adults to attend. Check out the Flyer for the meeting.
