Basketball season of 2017-18 kicks off tonight with teams facing Lawton MacArthur. Girls will play at home and boys away.
Kira Pickerill an eighth-grader, is among the players on the eighth-grade girls team this year.
“Basketball has started and I am super excited,” Pickerill said. “I play softball as well so I am gonna be super strong this year.”
The seventh-grade game is set for 4 p.m., and eighth grade will play around 5 p.m. tonight. The boys will follow a similar schedule at Lawton Mac.
“I’m ready for our game; I really hope we win our first game,” Pickerill said.
Some of the girls who played last year did not return to the team this year. Taylor Chambless, an eighth-grader, chose not to play basketball this year, but things the team will do well because of the quality of players on the team.
“I believe they will do good,” Chambless said. “They are strong girls and play very well.”
