Thanksgiving is a holiday all about giving thanks for all that is around us.
Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday of November. According to a history.com article, the first thanksgiving was celebrated in October 1621 by the pilgrims. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln officially set Thanksgiving in November, according to the article.
A lot people travel for Thanksgiving.
Damian Brea, sixth-grader, said “I am staying home for Thanksgiving, but I might go somewhere. Some people go to their aunt and uncle’s or grandma and grandpa’s, but some people stay home.
“Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and being with your family and friends. I am going with my friends for Thanksgiving.”
Most people eat turkey for thanksgiving. Almost 50 million turkeys are eaten each year, according to a CNN article. They also eat potatoes, gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie etc..
Frederick Pinkard, sixth grader, said, “I eat turkey, cranberries, stuffing and pumpkin pie.”
