The robotics qualifier is Saturday in New Castle. The DMS Robotics Team is allowed two adult coaches to guide the kids. There are 10 kids between sixth and eighth grades competing in the qualifier. The kids are going to work with Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robot and Legos to complete.
Robotics adviser Sherry McGhghy said “Working with the students is fun and watching them create and solve problems is challenging.”
This year’s DMS team included five students returning from last year.
“Each year we get some new members with eighth-graders going to the high school and new sixth-graders joining the team,” McGhghy said.
Every year to get into the Robotics Club, students have to write an essay telling why they want to be in the club. Only a few students are picked.
Ever year the First Lego League changes the project and has a new theme. The team has three rounds of the Robotic Game: Present the project, team building challenge and present their core value poster.
