Duncan Middle School students of the month for March and April were recognized during an assembly Thursday morning.
Assistant Principal Lisha Elroy announced each of the winners, who received a T-shirt the following day.
Students of the month for March included:
Sixth grade: Eric Costa, Jonah Link, Angela Ibarra, Olivia Fletcher
Seventh grade: Morgan Hampton, Vickie Bettencourt, Noah Spaulding, Tag Ensey
Eighth grade: Gavin Curry, Katie Gravitt, Logan Morris, Emma Moore
Teachers: and staff: Cathy Barker, Teresa Blalock, Chandra Gonzalez
“I’m happy and excited about getting student of the month,” Jonah Link, sixth-grade student, said.
Link said he thought it was neat being recognized and felt that many of the students were deserving because they have worked hard to get good grades and do good things throughout the month.
The April students of the month included:
Sixth grade: Lucas Eaton, Michael Barham, Anastasia Scott, Alyssa Harvey
Seventh grade: Madison Caldwell, Tyler Eades, Whitley Brown, Bryson White
Eighth grade: Trey Guernsey, Landon Funk, Brianna Thomas, Lauren Buben
Teachers and staff: Julie Leippe, Amie Moore, Laura Franklin
Gavin Curry said he was proud to be a student of the month because of the amount of work it takes to stand out in a positive way.
“You have to keep your grades up, and you have to be nice and do good,” Curry said.
Angela Ibarra, sixth-grade student, had similar thoughts. Ibarra said the way a student can be recognized as student of the month is by listening to the teachers, finishing all work and keeping grades up.
In addition to students and teachers of the month, three theme awards were also presented. Those earning the theme award were eighth-grader Terrance Martin, and sixth-graders Aiden Heidler and Kyrsten McCartney.
