This year, Duncan Little Theatre will be performing “Seussical KIDS,” which is a musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss. The musical is for kids, and many Duncan Middle School students are getting involved with activities like this outside of school.
“Seussical” is part of the DLT season, as part of its Children’s Theatre Experience. In the CTE program, the young actors perform the show at elementary schools throughout Stephens County. A public show is set for September 7 and 8, including a matinee, at Hodgson Studios. Last year, the CTE program brought performances of “Annie KIDS” to area schools.
“‘Seussical’ is fun, and I like going to the schools to perform,” Reagan Hicks, DMS sixth-grader, said.
Hicks will play Judge Yertle and Jungle Citizen 4 in the show. Other DMS students in the play are Ainsley McEntire, Emersen Villagrana, Sadi Blalock and Addison Siess. Veronica Hodgson is the director for the musical, while Leigh McEntire and Sonja Skinner are the producers and Teresa Blalock, DMS sixth-grade English teacher, is the props master.
The actors have been rehearsing every Monday, Thursday and Friday, and have been doing so for more than a week. They will practice for an entire month before performing at 10 schools and three times at Hodgson Studios.
