Mike Stoops OU’s defensive coordinator, has been fired after the Red River Rivalry game between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.
Oklahoma had been losing by more than 20 points during part of the game. But thanks to Kyler Murray and the Sooner’s offense, in the fourth quarter tied it up 45-45. But it wasn’t good enough. The Sooners lost by a field goal, thanks to the freshmen Cameron Dicker “The Kicker” from Texas.
Fans were furious, and they had enough of Mike Stoop’s lack of defense dominance. His defense had lost an important game before last year at the Rose Bowl game against Georgia.
According to a story by The Daily Oklahoman, “Lincoln Riley wasn’t pressured to fire Mike Stoops.”
Brendan “Bookie” Radley-Hiles, a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, took to Twitter and posted the tweet, “It’s different when you love the coach you are playing for.”
The tweet has since been deleted.
OU is ranked third in the Big 12 Conference. The Sooner’s next game is set for Oct. 20, when they face the TCU Horned Frogs.
