Red Ribbon Week drew to a close Wednesday, as students and teachers dressed up for Favorite Character Day, which happened to coincide with Halloween.

Dayton Cross and Kenzie Waggoner were among the students who dressed up for Favorite Character Day.
Red Ribbon Week ran from Oct. 24 through Wednesday, as a way to encourage an anti-drug lifestyle for students. Prior to Wednesday, other theme days included Pajama Day, Denim Day, Crazy Hair Day, Professional/Career Day and Star Wars Day.
Numerous students and teachers participated in Wednesday’s theme day, each appearing as a character from a movie, book, TV show or video game.
Julia Wilson, seventh-grade student, said Red Ribbon Week has been a good reminder for students.
“Don’t do drugs,” Wilson said.
Keira Brackett, seventh-grader, said she thought the main message students needed to know was not to give into peer pressure.
“Be who you are, not anyone else,” Brackett said.
