One student from Duncan Middle School was named to the All-State Choir, following the final round of auditions.
Jackson Conn, seventh-grade student at DMS, said he was proud of his accomplishment. Conn was chosen by Mark Monteith, the DMS choir teacher, to go to the competition.
“Persevere and you’ll get what you want,” Conn said about making All-State Choir.
He said he spent a long time practicing on each song. That was about seven hours per song to be specific.
Conn said he was humbled to be chosen for the competition and to even compete in the contest.
In all, 10 students showed up to the first round of the competition. Eight of those students were in high school, and two were in middle school.
The first round lasted 2 1/2 hours. The students arrived at 12:30 p.m. at their competition destination and left at 2:51 p.m.
