A trip north to Moore will give NJHS members a chance to “Thunder Up.”
National Junior Honor Society members left Duncan Middle School around 1 p.m. Wednesday, heading toward Moore. Students are set to return at 4:30 p.m. today.
Last night, the DMS honor society members attended the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game, as the team went up against the Brooklyn Nets. The Thunder won the game 108 to 96.
Only 12 DMS eighth-grade students went on the trip.
Sherry McGhghy, NJHS adviser, said the convention is a way for students to socialize with other NJHS members from around the state.
To become NJHS officers, students have to be a part of NJHS and file for the position at the end of the year. NJHS members elect new officers from those candidates.
McGhghy said students who are in sixth and seventh grades can start thinking about joining NJHS next year.
