As you may know, Veteran’s Day is Nov. 11, and Duncan Middle School has an assembly each year in honor of the soldiers who have fought for our country.
This year’s Veteran’s Day assembly is at 8 a.m. Nov. 12 in the gym.
The veterans are invited to the ceremony to come and celebrate with the Duncan Middle school as the students pay their respects to them.
Some students will be talking about some of the famous soldiers, and soldiers they know, what they’ve gone through, and how they’ve helped our country. The soldiers that attend the ceremony also talk about their experiences with serving our country.
During the assembly the choir will be singing the song “The Mansions of the Lord.” Trumpet player Jessica Hernandez, a DMS eighth-grader, will also be playing the song “Taps” which is dedicated to the veterans, as well as playing ‘The Mansions of the Lord’ with the choir.
Hernandez said she is excited to brings these songs to Duncan Middle School.
“I feel excited, but I’m just afraid I’m going to mess up and it’ll be very embarrassing,” Hernandez said. “I feel very excited because I play first, and then the choir joins in, after I start the song.”
