On Saturday, February 15th, the Duncan DMS MathCounts team won first place at regionals.
Ava Johnson, the head of the team, along with Landon Thacker, Seth Downey, Cannon Brenneis, Jackson Poage, Raven Hunter, and Sydney Miller, engineered a snowball catapult that won them first place overall as a team.
The catapult was designed to launch a ping pong ball the greatest distance possible.
Some of the other individual placers at the Oklahoma MathCounts Southwest Regional, which was held at Cameron University, included 7th grader Landon Thacker, who placed third overall, and 7th grader Seth Downey, who placed seventh place overall.
The team will be competing in the state competition during the first weekend in March! Good luck to them and great job to everyone who competed in the regional contest this past weekend!
