Duncan Middle School’s softball team walked away with a win for Monday’s game against Comanche.
The Lady Demons had its challenges to face as they went up against the Lady Indians. This was the first official game of the season, following a set of scrimmages Aug. 4 against Velma and Comanche, and pre-season scrimmages Aug. 6 against Fletcher, Cache and Lone Grove.
Monday’s varsity game ended with a score of 2-1 with Duncan taking the win.
Chesney Acres, a seventh-grade team member, said the team had to work hard for its win. Acres is the pitcher for the team.
“The toughest challenge was trying to strike them out so they would not win,” she said.
Eighth-grader Hannah Woods, who plays third base, had similar thoughts.
“The toughest challenge was not letting them score so we wouldn’t tie with them,” Woods said.
The next game is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 22. The varsity game will be home against the Empire Lady Bulldogs. The Duncan High School softball team is set to play 11:30 a.m. that same day.
