After a strong showing from Elgin, the Duncan Middle School volleyball team pulled off a victory in the third set.
The DMS team faced Elgin on Monday night at Duncan High School. The final set score was 2-1 with the Lady Demons cleaning up.
“We played great,” varsity player Emme Marks said. “Overall, we still have lots to work on.”
The first set was a back-and-forth match. At first, it looked as if Elgin was going to win. But Duncan went on a streak, winning the first set 25 to 19.
In the second set, the Lady Demons started out strong, but Elgin gained momentum. Elgin beat the DMS volleyball team in the second set with a score of 14 to 25.
With the teams tied with one match each, Elgin came to play, Marks said. But they couldn’t stop the Lady Demons.
When they went on a hot streak, the DMS team members took the game away, bringing victory in the third match, putting the total score 2-1.
“The other team was good, but overall, we were a better team,” she said.
The next game was set for 4 p.m. today at Duncan Middle School, where the team faced off against Lawton Tomlinson.
