(This is the second of seven articles featuring new teachers at DMS for the 2020-21 school year. Other teachers will be featured in the coming weeks.)
Teaching public school is something new for Emily Prichard.
Prichard joined the Duncan Middle School faculty this year and is teaching sixth-grade science. She used to run the 4H program.
For Prichard, teaching science is a passion. Although she’s had a few problems with a class full of ornery boys, she’s enjoying the challenge.
But teaching seventh-graders isn’t the only change for Prichard this year. She’s also dealing with new mask mandates and policies, while preparing curriculum for in-person classes and distancing learning, if things return to that format.
Prichard said she loves education and teaching others. She’s enjoying the school year so far, she said.
At DMS, Emily works closely with her teaching partner, Shantika Scott, who also teaches sixth-grade science.
