The County Country Team had a meet Saturday.
The first meet of the season took place at New Hope Baptist Church West in Duncan. Several schools came out to participate in the run.
The boys’ team ran 2 miles, while the girls ran 1 1/2 miles. Most of the team had never been to a meet, creating a new experience for some.
One new thing that happened was when everyone lined up, they had to wear their masks until a person called out to take them off. That meant they had to wear them while warming up.
Players had to be at the meet until 8:30 a.m., but didn’t start until 10 a.m., when the girls ran. The boys ran around 10:25 a.m.
The meet ended at 10:50 a.m.
Even though some of the runners were experienced, they were still nervous. Some of the runners got medals for being the top players.
Duncan did well, which could be a sign of how the remainder of the season may go.
The next cross country meet will be at the Marlow Outlaw Cross Country Invitational at Redbud Park. The buses will leave at 3:15 p.m.
