Last week, a number of students were sent home earlier because of a positive COVID-19 case at DMS. Teachers and principals are trying to do their best to keep the virus from spreading event more than it already has.
On Thursday, Assistant Principal Christy McIntyre made an announcement in the gym to alert students to the importance of following the school district’s mask mandate.
“Masks need to stay on in the gym,” McIntyre said during her announcement. ‘There are too many children close to you to not be able to wear your mask.”
Teachers and staff are doing their best to ensure kids don’t get the virus by doing what they can to keep the virus from spreading.
If students don’t follow the mask rule, more students would have to quarantine, meaning the whole school may eventually have to move to distance learning. That could lead to difficulties for some students who do better with actual school. Some students need to be able to talk to the teacher in person instead of just emailing them.
So to prevent the virus from spreading and to keep us from going virtual, please keep your masks on as instructed and keep Duncan Schools safe.
