Duncan Middle School dealt with a positive case of the COVID-19 virus, which led to a number of students going into quarantine.
DMS has taken steps to ensure school remains safe for its students and teachers, while doing its best to limit the spread of the virus.
“Some steps we are taking are mandating masks and encouraging students to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer as much as possible,” Assistant Principal Tim Hightower said.
The middle school is limiting exposure with students who may have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. Students enter quarantine for two weeks if they have come in direct contact with someone who has tested positive.
Students who enter quarantine move to distance learning, through Google Classroom and various other online means. When students are distance learning, they are expected to keep up on their classwork so they don’t fall behind.
With concerns about the virus, there is still potential for the school or the school district to move to a distance learning or virtual platform.
