Duncan Middle School picked up some medals Tuesday, when the DMS cross country team competed at Sultan Park in Walters.
The girls ran at 5 p.m., and the boys ran at 5:20 p.m. The boys ran two miles, while the girls ran 1 1/2 miles. Initally, they walked the race to get familiar with the course.
“I’ve shaved about a minute of time off every race,” Luke White, who competed in Walters, said about the cross country season.
White ran the two miles in 13 minutes and 51 seconds. He placed 16th and received a medal.
He said the course was not really that hard, making it an easier run. He also said he was a little nervous at the beginning, but that nervousness wore off.
The next cross country meet for DMS will be the Velma Invitational on Sept. 29.
