Cheerleaders may be the unsung heroes of school spirit.
Every day, they do their best to get people pumped for games, and they work hard to master cheers and dances.
“I really like it,” eighth-grade cheerleader Ava Johnson said.
This is Johnson’s second year as a middle school cheerleader. She plans on doing pom or cheer when she gets to high school because she wants to stay in the cheer industry.
Cheerleaders have been at every football home game and are expected to be at the basketball home games later this semester.
Seventh-grade football player Collin Sherrill said having cheerleaders at the football games helps hype the players up during the game. Sherrill said he is thankful to the cheerleaders for that.
Johnson and seventh-grade cheerleader Presley Sanders said cheerleaders often don’t get enough credit, but they cheer because they love it.
