The cross country team had a race Tuesday and did well.
As in most races, the boys ran two miles, and the girls ran 1 1/2 miles.
Summer Heavener, seventh-grader, said she didn’t feel ready prior to the race, but eighth-grader Sydney Miller was hoping she would do well.
The race took place at the Velma golf course. The were many hills, which added to the difficulty of the meet. Like most races, Duncan Middle School got some medals for having top runners.
Ava Miller, another eighth-grade runner, said she wasn’t happy with her performance in the race.
“I did not do well,” Miller said.
In addition to the hill, the race was also difficult because of the dust in the air. Some runners and spectators struggled with it. Nonetheless, the team did well. More than 85 runners participated in the girls’ and boys’ races.
The season ends soon with a meet Friday in Fredrick.
