Duncan Middle School provided free flu shots for teachers this week.
Along with COVID-19, teachers are taking more precautions to keep healthy during flu season. Teacher can get these flu shots to help their immune systems and to avoid sick later.
“I usually take my flu shot around the month of October,” Rosie Castle, DMS STEM teacher, said.
Castle said she has gotten the flu shot before at Duncan Middle School, which makes it more convenient for her.
Walgreens was present at the middle school to administer the flu shots.
Marinda Cook, sixth-grade math teacher, said she has gotten the flu shot at Duncan Middle School before, too.
“I haven’t really decided, but yes, I probably will,” Cook said about getting her flu shot.
Cook said she gets the flu shot to help prevent her from getting the flu. She said she doesn’t want to be absent because her students learn better when she’s there.
Castle takes the flu shot because she’s around kids and does not want them to get sick.
