The new members of the Academic Team for 2020-21 school year were selected.
The members are Luke McFatridge, Noah McFatridge, Cameron Ferguson, Bralen Churchman, Bennett Burch, Landon Thacker, Joseph Stroud, Laura Stewart, Devin Johnson, Harrison Talbot, Megan Bumpas, Sydney Miller, Averie Knapp, Caseley Adams and Ava Miller.
The team is coached by math teacher Jenny Sutherland and STEM teacher Rosie Castle. It has not been decided who will be on varsity or junior varsity. Practices have already gotten underway.
Adams said she is excited about being selected for the Academic Team and feels that the team will do well this year. She said she hopes she can have a positive impact on the team.
There are a varying number of meets throughout the school year, depending on how well the team does.
Last year, the team went to three meets and almost made it to state. The team got first place at the Duncan meet, got third place at the Lawton Ike meet and got last place at another meet in Duncan.
Team members hope do do better this year with their eyes set on state.
