On Wednesday, the Demons played The Lawton Central Cougars.
The seventh-grade Cougars were scheduled to play against the seventh grade Demons. The game was not played because the Cougars seventh-grade team had a COVID-19 spike causing them to go into quarantine.
Although the seventh-grade team didn’t get to play, the eighth-grade Demons played the Cougars On Wednesday. They lost the game 28 to 34.
“Our effort was there; we just couldn’t finish the job,” Coach Justin Pena said. “One of our biggest weaknesses is our mental focus.”
One play made Duncan fans mad and might have cost the Demons the game.
During the third quarter, the Cougars threw the ball to the end zone. A Cougar football team member grabbed the ball and dropped it, but the officials called it a catch, which made the score 21 to 28 going into the fourth quarter.
Although though the Demons played better in the fourth quarter, they were unable to overcome the setback.
Coach Cameron Ethridge said the coaches would try to reschedule the seventh-grade game, but there are no promises this will be able to take place.
Wednesday’s game was the end of the season for the Demons.
