Today, National Croc Day came upon Duncan Middle School. The principals gave several reminders over the week, and many students came to school wearing the shoes.
Croc Day started in 2002, at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Since then, over 300 million pairs have been sold throughout the world. The original purpose for these shoes was to make a comfortable boating shoe.
Over time, the goal was to make a foam clog that was comfortable to wear. When they were first introduced at the boat event, they were a hit. They are made out of a special foam material called Croslite, that is a game-changer, that is very comfy and lightweight.
Eventually the shoes were patented in 2006, but were often called “ugly” at first by many people. Over time, people realized how comfy they were, and soon became very popular around the world. They are decorated with charms made by Jibbitz, a charm company that is owned by Crocs.
So many people love this shoe for the simple colorful style and how good it feels to wear them.
Several students were asked about their Crocs.
“I love this shoe because they are comfy,” Layci Blalock said.
Other students Sarae Kinchlow and Justine Davis said they liked how comfortable the shoes were. But there drawbacks, however.
“They are pretty ugly,” Davis said.
To this day they are mostly used for outdoor use.The company is based in Boulder, Colorado. The shoes are also very sustainable, and that is one of the company’s goals.
People around the world wear this shoe. The shoes are now available in 90 countries around the globe
