Wrestling practice starts Monday, and forms were passed out Tuesday.
All of the Duncan middle schools wrestling are ready for the season to start, especially the new wrestling head coach Justin Pena and the assistant coach John Strickland. When football and wrestling starts, the football boys that are wrestling need to worry more about wrestling and not football.
“I’ve never wrestled before, and I look forward to wrestling for the Duncan Demons Wrestling Team,” eighth-grader Damon Dillon said.
Dillon said that having Pena as the head wrestling coach encouraged him to go out for the team.
Carter Riddles said wrestling is good for conditioning, especially to keep in shape for other sports.
“I chose wrestling because it teaches you how to get in shape and eat less food so your ready for baseball or another sport in the future,” Riddles said. “I wanted to try something new because I was playing T-Ball so i wanted to wrestle and I loved it.”
The schedule of wrestling duels has not been finalized yet.
