On Wednesday, FCA had its first meeting of the school year.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a Christian-based organization that teaches students about with a walk with Christ. The meeting was unlike other Duncan Middle School held before because it took place in the morning before school instead of at lunch.
“This year, we will have high schoolers come in,” Mandy Robbins, FCA sponsor, said. “The mornings work better for them.”
For Wednesday’s meeting, the high school students were not able to attend. Instead, Todd Ledford, who leads FCA at the high school, was the guest speaker for the event. The meeting started at 7:15 a.m. and lasted about 20 minues.
Ledford used the opportunity to provide kids with words of encouragement to the students and read passages out of the Bible.
Some of the students in attendance said the meeting was important to them.
Eighth-grade student Cadence Hill said, “I feel I need to learn more about God.”
This year, FCA meetings will be held at 7:15 a.m. on the last Wednesday of each month. There will be a different guest speakers each time.
