Students have taken place in the recycled art project.
Shelly Farrar, art teacher at Duncan Middle School, got some students together to take part in the recycled art project. They made projects such as the crayon quilt and the American flag made out of recycled items.
Farrar said, “We entered the competition for the keep Oklahoma beautiful student art competition. The students are raising awareness about environmental issues.
Farrar thinks the project is helping.
“We made the American flag out of stuff we were going to throw away,” she said. “It is good for the kids, especially for them to learn how to work outside the box.”
Presley Sanders, seventh-grade DMS student, is one of the students who did the recycled art project.
“I did the crayon quilt project,” Sanders said. “It was pretty fun.”
She wishes she could continue the project but she said she would rather be drawing.
“I understand the project, and I think it is a good thing to do,” Sanders said.
The project ended about two weeks ago, and now the art they made is hanging on the DMS walls.
