It’s been one week since wrestling practice started.
The wrestlers are getting prepared for the season, as they work to improve. The Duncan Middle School wrestling team had its first practice Monday, and Coach Justin Pena thinks it’s going to be a fun season.
¨I feel that I have a connection I love that I can talk to my students,” Pena said. “I love that the sixth-graders come into my class. I enjoy being a role model to my students.¨
The first tournament will be Nov. 7 at Lawton Mac. There are several girls wrestling this year, whereas only one wrestled last year.
This is Pena’s first year coaching at Duncan Middle School, having joined the DMS teaching staff this year.
For this year, the wrestlers range from sixth to eighth grade. They will have around 15 tournaments throughout the season, which will end in early February.
The last meet of the year will be a state meet in Oklahoma City, which is a big meet for the Demons.
