Wrestling practice started just over a week ago, and since then the welters have been practice non-stop to be prepared for the upcoming tournament.
The tournament is set for Nov. 7 and will take place at Lawton MacArthur. It is an open tournament, meaning it is for the people who are experienced in wrestling.
“Physically, we aren’t prepared for this tournament,” Coach Justin Pena said. “But I think that we are mentally ready to tackle this challenge head on.”
The wrestlers, themselves, are excited about the tournament.
“I think I’m prepared physically and mentally,” Trey Thomas said. “My biggest problem is going to be single legs.”
Carter Riddles said he feels that he is also prepared for the tournament, even though he also has some concerns.
“My biggest problem is going to be double legs,” Riddles said.
The next tournament will be Nov. 14 with sixth through ninth-grade Demons participating.
