Brenda Hurley was recently awarded Teacher of the Month for the month of November.
Hurley is an eighth grade English teacher at Duncan Middle School and enjoys teaching her children everything they need to know.
Hurley was the only representative that won this award for the month of November. She has never won this award before throughout her career and is honored to receive it for her first time.
The Teacher of the Month award is based on teachers’ recommendations. Hurley’s fellow teachers nominated her to win because they thought she was doing great and needed to be recognized.
She said she is thrilled to receive this award, partially because this is her first time ever to win it.
“I’m excited,” Hurley said. “I’m really very honored to win.”
Hurley won a daily free drink from Chicken Express along with the recognition that comes with the Teacher of the Month Award.
Her winning was announced over the intercom that she had won, so the whole school was able to recognize her success. She said her class clapped and told her congratulations. Even students from classes she doesn’t teach congratulated her on this award.
