On Oct. 27, the pit crew helped out for the last time, helping move instruments for the DHS marching contest.
The marching band contest took place in Yukon, and the members were gone all day at the contest. The members were Megan Bumpas, Isaac Pain, Noah Pharaoh, Luke White, Dan Bower, Wendy Fernendez, Deacon Clark and Orieana Simmons.
The members said they liked being part of the pit crew for the season.
“I enjoyed being in the pit crew a lot,” Noah Pharaoh said. “I have learned a lot of new things.”
The pit crew helped move percussion equipment onto the field at contests and football games. They only helped out in the “marching season” which is September to November.
The only people who can be in it are eighth-graders who have signed up for it. When they get into ninth grade, they become part of the marching band.
