November is Native American Heritage Month.
The month is based on celebrating different diverse cultures from different tribes such as the Cherokee, Comanche, Kiowa, Apache, Cheyenne and many more. It celebrates tradition and history.
It also is a time to remember the Native people’s contributions. It shows that you should raise a general awareness to the challenges that the Native people faced historically and presently, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
In Shelly Farrar’s art class, students are working on art that goes along with the Native American Heritage Month. Farrar says that they should be done soon.
She also feels that her students will learn a lot about what they did.
Farrar gave thoughts about what she thinks is Native American Heritage Month. She says that the authentic objects in front of her classroom are items she has been collecting for a long time such as Kachina Dolls, Moccasins and other native objects.
She thinks that if the Native Americans had not shown the pilgrims they would not have survived. This month is a month to recognize our American history.
