The Duncan Middle School Boys’ Basketball Team competed in a tournament over the last week, starting Nov. 9 and ending on Saturday.
The only team competing was the varsity team, which placed second in the tournament.
Jackson Poage, an eighth-grade players said he was ready for the tournament but knew the games would be difficult.
The junior varsity didn’t participate in the tournament, but they are still slated for regular games throughout the season. The varsity boys left the middle school at the start of the school day Nov. 9.
Kelan Smith-Johnson, another eighth-grade player, said he thought the team did well, even though the Duncan Demons didn’t win every game of the tournament.
“Our last game, we did good, but we lot,” Smith-Johnson said.
Poage said he’s excited about this season, although there will be some challenges.
“I will start (in) the next game,” he said. “I’m mentally and physically ready for the next game.”
The next game is set for today against Elgin.
